A stake in the heart you laid me down
But what’s already dead won’t stay in the ground
Blind and alone I reach you again
Fallen and dead I uncross my hands
And once the sunlight fades to black
I can feel my strength come back
You’ll see me rise see me rise
With the fire in my eyes
You’ll see me rise see me rise
When the light has left the sky
You hear my voice callin’ out on the wind
And it feels so cold to be alive again
The light of the moon shinin’ down on me
On this glorious night you have set me free again
And once the sunlight fades to black
I can feel my strength come back
You’ll see me rise see me rise
With the fire in my eyes
You’ll see me rise see me rise
When the light has left the sky
I like the subtle way in which the tracks connect to the album cover, making this resting maiden the center point — calm in the midst of storm. (Just my interpretation maybe but the cover gives extra depth to the music... a softer undertone). The image reminds me of ‘Annunciation’ by Dante G. Rossetti used in ‘Adrenaline’ music video.
‘Smoke and Mirrors’ puts me at peace with big disappointments — a bittersweet musical potion.

I've enjoyed The Wake since the 90s. The new album feels like a trip to right where they left off! Goth Rock at it's best! I can't wait to see where they go from here!! aklosowski22
“Strangers” is packed with wonderfully menacing electro-goth—late-night horror movie music for vampire dance parties. Bandcamp New & Notable May 8, 2023
