You’re never all alone
I am here beside you
This cold it cuts to the bone
But don’t let it inside you
And when the lights go down
You can hear the night’s song
Turn down the rest of the world and sing along
This is an anthem for the broken
To sing in the dark
Let our communion be unspoken
Here in our hearts
Despair the way is long
Because it was made by the dead
In circles spinning round
Turn inside of your head
And when the lights go down
You can hear the night’s song
Turn down the rest of the world and sing along
This is an anthem for the broken
To sing in the dark
Let our communion be unspoken
Here in our hearts

I like the subtle way in which the tracks connect to the album cover, making this resting maiden the center point — calm in the midst of storm. (Just my interpretation maybe but the cover gives extra depth to the music... a softer undertone). The image reminds me of ‘Annunciation’ by Dante G. Rossetti used in ‘Adrenaline’ music video.
‘Smoke and Mirrors’ puts me at peace with big disappointments — a bittersweet musical potion.

I've enjoyed The Wake since the 90s. The new album feels like a trip to right where they left off! Goth Rock at it's best! I can't wait to see where they go from here!! aklosowski22
“Strangers” is packed with wonderfully menacing electro-goth—late-night horror movie music for vampire dance parties. Bandcamp New & Notable May 8, 2023
